This one particular student became inspired after reading about our story and now wants to start a business venture of his own. The only problem is that he is also contemplating skipping college to pursue his dream.

yes, if you can get in to a university you should attend. There are 1 in about 10 million that don't fall in this category, for the rest, GO!

Talk to someone that was a dropout and ask them if their career path would have been easier with a degree. Even if they were a success, they had one extra thing to overcome. There's just no point in closing that many doors.

Dropping out of school to be the next Bill Gates make less sense than the kid that decides to bet everything on becoming a professional baseball player. Sure, it happens, but there are a lot more people that don't make it.

I would definitely recommend attending the university in that situation. Everything the writer says about college is true, plus he would have a "back up" if he went to college.

We only live once. Go to university and it'll make you a more rounded person. Sorry, but it's true -- I have dear friends from both camps. There's plenty of time in the next 50 years to make up for the three you spent in the unique college bubble.

My first reaction was that the title of this was similar to the question, "Did you walk to work to day or did you bring your lunch." That is, totally unrelated. But in retrospect, it makes sense. If you can afford the time and cost of going to college, it'd be valuable for business later purely because of being able to build your social network.
