Could a Digital, Peer-to-Peer Currency Replace Your National Currency?

What if, just for the sake of argument, you had the option of using a digital currency in place of the U.S. Dollar, the Mexican Peso, or the Japanese Yen. What if you had the option of using a Facebook Dollar? How about a Twitter buck?
