I tried to clip coupons and ad match. However, after extra hours spent in the store comparing prices, looking for certain brands, showing the cashier each ad, etc.. it only saved me $5.25. I do not know if I did it wrong or what, but it 5 bucks really wasn't worth the extra time it took.

As you do it more and get better at it, it will not take that long. My wife does the coupon clipping and spends maybe 10 minutes at home a week on it, then in store we don't spend any more time than we used to without the coupons. We actually spend less time because we know exactly what to look for and skip isles we don't need to go down.

I don't do coupons, either, Ashley. We plan ahead for meals, get what we need, and when non-perishables that we use a lot come on sale, we buy as much as we can. We have also built up food storage that can get us through for a couple months if we need it. We save time, use our money efficiently, and are content.

I don't buy name brands anymore. In my area some of the generic products are actually BETTER than the big brands (especially TUNA)... At least keep an open mind. If you don't like the generics, fine, but i bet you'll be surprised more often than not. And you'll save a LOT in the meantime...

Coupons usually are for the least healthy items and they take up a lot of time and clutter. Not for me.

My #1 rule is: Never go grocery shopping hungry! You will buy way more than what you actually planned on buying if you enter the store hungry.

I also spend time on collecting coupons and it saves me usually $8-$10. That's not the world but 10 x 10 is a hundred too. Going through coupons isn't a hassle to me. I take it more as a fun.
