This is a tough call. Malcolm Gladwell discussed this idea at length in "The Tipping Point," about how our enjoyment of foods is influenced by more than the taste. Personally, its frustrating that we humans are manipulated by marketing/appearance and it's kindof pathetic that people need to pay more for wine in order to derive enjoyment from it, but but if the end result is that we enjoy the experience more, what is the problem?

Reading your comment reminded my of my friend's father who is an amazing cook. He used to tell my friend and I that "people eat with their eyes" which I understand, but when it comes to some things (like wine) once it's in my glass, I don't care what bottle (or box) it came from.

Having tasted both "cheap" wines and expensive wines, I know that price is not always a factor in finding a pleasant wine. But that said, wine tastings at wineries almost always taste better.

Interesting! Price is not a determining factor always. Sometimes, cheap wines taste better than costly wines.
