I wish I could say that I had money for a vacation let alone for a vacation house, but it's nice to know that some people are prospering. Good for you, and enjoy.

Looks like the writer has made enough money online and has 12-15 healthy blogs that are making him regular cash. I'll have a vacation house too and will work from there if I can get net connectivity and electricity there.

neophyte: very true. but i think his point is that prices are so iffy in certain area that you can afford a vacation home but may not be able to afford a primary residence...

I think Cap's summary is spot-on. While affecting housing prices across-the-board, the author's story illustrates that the best bargains can be found in areas where most homes are used as secondary residences. The prices of such homes will continue to fall due to the general decline in real estate as well as the economic downturn, which will certainly compel some families to dispense with unnecessary assets to raise cash. On the other hand, the argument could be made that prices for vacation homes in areas frequented by the welathy are recession-proof, as the wealthy will have no problem weathering the financial storm, and hence will see no reason to sell their homes.
