Tip'd

A community for financial news, ideas, and tips

About Us

Tip’d got started because two businessmen, Andy and Jimmy, enjoyed discussing investing news with each other. They wondered: why wasn’t there a better casual, friendly, online place to share and discuss current financial ideas and news?

So they started their own community to do just that. Tip’d is a place for investors — both amateur and professional — to meet, share, discuss, comment, and vote on what’s happening on both Wall Street and Main Street. We’re focused on building a smart, friendly, and open community, and we hope you join us! If you're a new user, you may want to check out our Frequently Asked Questions to help you get started.

Andy founder

andy@tipd.com

Andy founded Tip’d in September 2008 (with a little help from Jimbeaux). He is a serial entrepreneur who stinks at investing: continually getting burned on his stock picks, he can't help but go back for more. He enjoys wasting enormous amounts of time on the Internet.

Jimbeaux

Jimbeaux webmaster

jimmy@tipd.com

Jimbeaux (sometimes spelled: ‘Jimbo’) is the Tip’d webmaster. Normally a very lazy person, he worked surprisingly hard on the Tip’d Web site, and (we think) it shows. He enjoys Notre Dame football, waking up at noon, and late 1990s Internet technologies.

Mu

Mu community director

muhammad@tipd.com

As the community director, Mu will be in charge of making sure that all the Tip'd community's needs are met and all their concerns addressed in a fair and timely manner. Don't hesitate to drop him a line.

Damon

Damon developer

Fueled by what seems like an endless supply of Mountain Dew, Damon is now content to have found the perfect blend of work and hobby — programming. When Damon isn't spending time with his kids, you can usually find him listening to NIN, Lacuna Coil, Zero 7, Tina Dico and figuring out how to beat Guitar Hero on expert mode.

Jim

Jim blogger outreach

jim@tipd.com

Jim is a personal finance blogger who is blessed to be able to blog for a living at Blueprint for Financial Prosperity. He's pretty confident that Tip’d will prove to be a phenomenal resource and is glad to be part of the team. Oh, and he feels silly writing about himself in the third person.

Tamar

Tamar moderator

tamar@tipd.com

Tamar loves social media and can be found just about anywhere. At Tip’d, her job is to make sure your user experience is a positive one, and she'll work very hard to make that happen.

deuce

Deuce designer, all-around good guy

Every once in a while, Andy manages to talk Deuce (you may know him as Pearson) into doing some heavy lifting for him. This time, it was putting lipstick on a Pligg, but Andy pitched it thusly, “Just clean it up a bit, and can you help out with the header?” Indeed.
